Chair and Head of Department of Accounting and Taxation
Job Reference: TBS67 Academic Excellence and Your Future – Develop Both With Us
The Business School is one of the largest Schools at BU and is increasing its international reputation as a provider of contemporary business education. A strongly-developing academic research culture keeps the School relevant, benefits students by informing course development and delivery, and enhances our reputation with the business community locally, nationally and internationally. The new postgraduate Executive Business Centre, opened in September 2009, is a visible manifestation of a rapid transformation by the Business School. Under the leadership of Professor Thomas Lange, this transformation has also included a significant growth in postgraduate enrolments, the recruitment of new academic staff, a strengthening of our research capabilities and the seeking of national and international accreditations.
Our aims are clear: academic excellence and the development of a Business School of truly international standing.
Following the move towards a new and exciting departmental structure, the Business School is seeking an internationally-recognised scholar of distinction, who will lead the Department of Accounting and Taxation into a new decade of widely-recognised achievements.
The successful applicant will need to provide effective academic, strategic and managerial leadership. A key priority will be to develop an excellent research community, which strongly underpins our education, enterprise and professional practice provision. The Head will also need to be able to develop and strengthen the existing Accounting and Taxation portfolio and identify new areas of activity.
In addition to possessing a credible international publications profile, candidates will hold an existing chair in their specialist field and must be able to demonstrate the ability to lead and manage a high-calibre group of staff to achieve and maintain academic excellence and a culture of continuous improvement.
